Postdoctoral Fellow, Clinical Psychology

  • Dr. Bui was born and raised in New Orleans. She completed her doctorate in Clinical Psychology, with a specialization in Child and Adolescent Psychology from the Florida School of Professional Psychology (FSPP). During her APA-approved internship, Dr. Bui earned a fellow in Infant Mental Health and has specialized training working with infants, young children (ages 0-5), and families, from Louisiana State University-Health Sciences Center. She earned her Master’s in Clinical Psychology, with a specialization in children and adolescents from FSPP and a Bachelor’s of Science from the University of New Orleans. Her training and focus include preventive intervention and treatment of childhood / adolescent mental health.  

    Dr. Bui’s clinical experiences include conducting psychological assessments as well as individual, family, and group therapy with young children, adolescents, and adults across a variety of settings such as community mental health, academic medical centers, schools, outpatient centers, private practice, and juvenile detention centers. She also has training and experience in conducting comprehensive assessments and treating a variety of presenting concerns such as: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Depression, Anxiety, Adjustment Disorders, Trauma, Grief/loss, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, traumatic brain injuries, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, disruptive behavior disorders, family relations, intellectual disabilities, developmental delays, learning issues, couples, school performance and behavior, self-esteem, Eating Disorders, substances, and sexual assault, Department of Defense evaluations, Fitness for Duty (FFD), Disability Determination, and pre surgical evaluations.  Her exposure to various treatment settings submerged her into diverse populations representing broad arrays of age, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and religious backgrounds. 


    She has been a research coordinator, published peer-reviewed articles, as well as a book chapter. Dr. Bui has presented her findings at both national and international conferences. Some of her research interests and previous workshops include building children up through education, exploring the values of support for families, disparities in mental health treatment for underserved populations, and factors of consideration for administering psychological testing to children. Dr. Bui has taught and serves as a mentor for several graduate students. Additionally, she has held various leadership positions, such as serving on the executive board of the Student Psychological Association and as the Chair of the Children and Adolescents Interest Group.  Her passion for helping families and children have driven her years of volunteer and community service work with underprivileged, at risk, inpatient, and incarcerated youth. Dr. Bui frequently volunteers at the Special Olympics events, Autism Awareness events, and at numerous schools/daycares within the Greater New Orleans area. Dr. Bui feels it is important to celebrate differences, while focusing on strengths and developing safe, healthy, skills to help individuals achieve their goals.

    Fun Facts: Dr. Bui enjoys playing beach volleyball and soccer. She is a foodie, likes traveling, and painting. She also loves spending time with her family and dog, Tucker.
