  • Tona Zwanziger is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of New Orleans and her master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from Tulane University. Tona also holds a certificate in Disaster Mental Health and Trauma Studies as well as a Master of Science degree in Disaster Resilience Leadership from Tulane University where she was awarded the Tulane 34 Award for academic and service achievements. Tona provides individual psychotherapy to children, adolescents and adults. Her treatment approach is to incorporate evidenced-based and solution-focused techniques and interventions that will assist individuals who are struggling with symptoms related to depression, anxiety, trauma, post-traumatic stress, adjustment and acute stress.

    Her overall objective is to create a safe space and therapeutic relationship by providing support and gently guiding individuals to a place of improved functioning. She utilizes both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy along with other therapeutic modalities to help clients empower themselves to work toward their goals. Tona also served for ten years as a combat medic in the U.S Army National Guard. Her research specializes on resilience within individuals and communities following disaster events. She is also a published author in her field.
